Travel Day; arriving in Porto

Here we are excited for our 14-hour travel day! Michelle slept, the rest of us binged on movies and shows. (I watched the entire first season of Big Little Lies.)

Landed in Amsterdam and then Porto without incident and with all of our luggage. Explored Porto while waiting for our rooms to be ready.

What we learned today: Porto means Harbor. Porto was the first region in the world to be known for wine. (Our guide said, "Not France, not Italy, not Napa...Porto!")

Our hotel

Before walking across the bridge. Shopped the street vendors then had a little nosh.

Looks like a postcard!

Barb and Cindy's order (Glass of wine. 2 Euros)

. Deb and Lori's order.  Whatever.
(Michelle and Sheila shopped!)

There are 270 steps back up to the hotel area. Michelle and Sheila walked...the rest of us took the Funicula (tram!).
Resting. Then headed to our welcome dinner!

Salad,  Croquettes, codfish cakes (a Portuguese staple), sausage, melon, rolls, turkey, French fries, cabbage and onions. And ice cream with chocolate shavings. And wine.

Finally to sleep at 10 pm Portugal time.
