Porto Part 1

We had an action packed day! Here is Part 1 of our full day in Porto:

This is the main viewpoint of the city: the Tower of the Clerics. There are 240 steps to the top. One brave soul thought the stairs were too crowded and climbed up the outside:

. And the cathedral, Carmelite Church of Porto. The blue tiles very indicative of Porto.

And this is where they tortured people.

We will come back to the Chamber of Commerce building and train station but in the meantime, here's the important stuff:

Tour of Port wine sellers. This was the aging and tasting facility. They had one bottle for sale from 1815 for only $5600. They still have it for sale after our group left....

Food:  my hot chocolate at breakfast....also the coffees got a cocoa smiley face.

Deb's fish at lunch. They leave the head on so you know it's fresh!

This is the only Imperial McDonalds. In an old Imperial building with the symbol, the Eagle. Below is one of many red phone booths in the city - although Port is made in Portugal, many of the wine  company owners are from England. This is evidence of some of their influence.

And Deb found a friend.

Boat tour and this bridge was designed by Gustav Eiffel--before he built the Eiffel Tower.

Photo op near the ocean.

This is the breakwater at the mouth of the Douro River.
The train station, Chamber of Commerce and miscellaneous trivia coming in Part 2!
