Speaking Portuguese

Portuguese is similar to Spanish but trickier, and the pronunciations are a little different. So far we've learned:

  • an S at the beginning of the word is pronounced like an English "s". An S within the word is pronounced as "sh"
  • Porto is pronounced Por-too
  • Lisbon is pronounced Leesh-bo (kind of: the n is almost silent)

Miss Sheila found a great website with audio to help us with some basic phrases: https://www.practiceportuguese.com/simple-phrases-learn-visiting-portugal/

A 14-hour travel day should be long enough to learn Portuguese, yes?

We leave Saturday! Packing!
